Smoothie bowls are an instagrammers dream: a thick smoothie poured into a bowl and decorated in such a pretty way that you almost feel guilty for eating it… almost. Smoothie bowls are completely customisable and can include anything you like. If you can make a smoothie, you can make a smoothie bowl.
Something to consider: too many fruits will bring the sugar content of your bowl way up. Yes, natural sugars are better than refined/processed sugars but you still don’t want to be eating a bowl of fructose. Also, avoid added sweetners like honey or syrup. Try and balance out your fruits and add veggies too.
We asked Katie Morgan to provide one of her favourite smoothie bowls for all our Neat friends. Here's her delicious recipe:
There’s not much method to a smoothie bowl! Pop everything into the blender and blend until thick and well combined. Pour into a bowl.
Top with almonds, chia seeds, coconut, cacao nibs, goji berries or buckinis. Go wild but use moderation!
Top tip? Chill your bowl before you start. It’ll keep your smoothie extra cold.
