3 Beach Workouts

Although holidays are for relaxing and taking a break from your regular routine, sometimes it feels great to get up and move before spending the day lying horizontally on a sun lounger! Instead of hitting the hotel gym, make the most of your beautiful surroundings and try these three, super simple workouts that are perfect for the beach. Nothing will feel better than diving into the sea after busting out a sweaty session…

Sprints

As if sprints weren't tough enough, try doing them on the sand for an even harder workout! Sprinting is one of the most simple, yet effective workouts for getting your heart rate up and working up a quick sweat. Find a quiet spot on the beach before the crowds arrive and complete 15 x 100m sprints, with minimal rest in between sets. You'll certainly be ready for a lie down on your sun lounger after that!

Skipping

Although this workout might mean bringing a skipping rope with you, it's a small piece of kit that fits easily in your suitcase and can really step up your holiday workout game. Head down near the water and work on that golden tan whilst you sweat, skipping for 40 seconds, resting for 20 seconds and repeating 20 times - job done!

Bodyweight Exercises

Bodyweight exercises are brilliant for a sweaty workout wherever you may be in the world. The best thing about this style of training is that you can tailor your workouts to hit specific muscle groups whilst testing your cardiovascular fitness at the same time. Try splitting your week into upper body, lower body and full body workouts, using exercises such as burpees, squat jumps, press ups, mountain climbers, jumping lunges and frog jumps. Push yourself as hard as you can for 30 seconds, rest for 30 seconds and repeat for 20-25 minutes before jumping into the water for a well-deserved swim!
