Does the Amount of Protein Intake Vary for Different Activities?
The simple answer is yes. Protein requirements are stated as grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. For example a 70kg man with a protein requirement of 1.2g/kg/day, needs 84 grams of protein a day. We have a QoW on this here. If you look at the table below, the required amount of protein is more dependent on the amount of exercise a person does as opposed to the type. For example the requirement for an elite endurance athlete is twice that of a recreational endurance training.
