Our SportsAid Sponsored Athlete: Jacob Peters

As you might have seen from some of our previous blogposts, we’re partnered with the amazing charity, SportsAid, who provide financial support and recognition to young British athletes aspiring to be the nation's next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth or World champions. They've supported over 1,000 athletes; the vast majority aged 12 to 18.

Through our partnership with SportsAid, this year we’re sponsoring two amazing young athletes, one of them being swimmer Jacob Peters. Last Wednesday we met up with Jacob and the SportsAid team at the Neat Cafe to get to know him a little bit better and introduce him to all things Neat!

It's no surprise that with Lee & Charlie being former GB swimmers, our sponsored athlete Jacob is a GB swimmer himself!

Scouted to swim at club level at the mere age of 8, now aged 16 he's training hard six days a week with Poole Swimming Club and competing at an international level - his main events being the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly.

2017 has been an impressive year for Jacob so far, with his international debut for an England youth team in Marseilles in March and his great success at the British Championships at the end of April - including winning the 200m Butterfly with a PB of 2.00.65. Soon after this, Jacob received the news that he'd been selected to represent Team GB at the World Juniors in Indianapolis, America and he'll be travelling out there next Tuesday!

There's been no rest in between though; since then he's competed in an Open competition with Team England in Canet, France, and also in the British Summer Championships!

It was so great to get to chat with Jacob and his wonderful family - Lee & Charlie definitely enjoyed passing on some wisdom from their time in the pool all those years ago! We’ll be cheering on Jacob when he heads to the Worlds next week and of course we'll make sure to keep you up to date with his progress.

Don't forget to follow Jacob's journey on Instagram and Twitter.
