Chocolate, Almond and Cherry Porridge

Is there anything better than chocolate for breakfast? These chocolate oats are mixed with almond extract to give them a more sophisticated, indulgent taste and are topped with a sweet cherry compote, creamy yoghurt and toasted crunchy almonds to mimic the flavours of a black forest gateau

Pop the compote ingredients in a small pan over a low heat and leave to soften, squishing slightly with a fork to quicken this process. Leave this to cook whilst you make the porridge. You want the cherries to be soft and some of the juices to still be left in the pan.

Pour the porridge ingredients into another small pan and stir over a low to medium heat until thickened. Once cooked, pour the porridge into a bowl.

Dollop the yoghurt on one side of the porridge and pour the cherry compote on the other side of the bowl. Scatter the toasted almonds and nibs in between!
