FAQ’s: Which is Better for you – Whey or Vegan Protein?

This is a question that came up at our WeWork pop-up last week and is something we’ve been A LOT over the years. So, is vegan protein healthier than whey? Does whey protein have a higher protein content? Which should you choose? We’re here to break it down for you…

Which is Better For You - Whey or Vegan Protein? | Neat Nutrition. Active Nutrition, Reimagined For You.

What are the differences?

Whey protein is made from grass-fed dairy, whereas our vegan protein comes from fully plant-based sources (you can find out more about how our proteins are made here). The dairy in whey protein means that it contains all nine of the essential amino acids your body needs. These amino acids are a little trickier to get from non-dairy sources, which is why we use a blend of hemp & pea protein to make sure our vegan protein still contains everything your body needs.

So, which is 'better' for you?

This comes down to individual preference. Some assume that vegan protein is ‘healthier’, but that’s not necessarily the case. The protein yield is slightly higher in whey, but don’t be fooled - our vegan protein also packs a hefty protein punch. If you have an intolerance or just choose not to consume dairy, then our vegan protein is a great alternative protein source.
