Is there anything worse than going to an amazing restaurant or café and having to go through the pain of choosing just one item off their menu? It's definitely a first world problem, but it's exactly why we love some of the pick and mix style, healthy restaurants in central London. They’re giving buffets a serious upgrade – no more tables of soggy quiche, bland cheese sandwiches and sad-looking lettuce leaves. We’ve rounded up the crème of the crop for you to check out…
The Detox Kitchen
The Detox Kitchen is a health-lovers haven. With locations all over central London, they’ve got juices and smoothies for days and an incredible selection of salads with protein options for vegans, veggies and meat-eaters. We got the curried sweet potato, the cauliflower and pomegranate rice and the super greens salad - but we're definitely going back to try the rest! The Instagrammable living plant wall in the Mortimer Street location also wins bonus points from us...
Tibits might not be as typically ‘healthy’ as The Detox Kitchen, but it’s definitely a tasty option for wholesome veggie and vegan food. We’d recommend heading to Tibits if you’re bringing a friend who's a little sceptical about plant based eating - it’s got a little something for everyone, from peanut butter salads and roasted veggies to lentil curries and hearty pasta dishes.
This popular chain of organic shops has an amazing take-away deli to grab hot and cold food, coffees and smoothies. They usually have seats inside, although it’s a lot more focused on the grab-and-go crowd. It’s always a reliable option for a delicious, healthy meal, with awesome curries, great slaws and salads. Throw caution to the wind and load up your box with a little bit of everything - who said veggie curry and greek salad doesn’t mix?
Last but not least, Ethos has to be one of our favourite healthy spots in London! Located just off busy Oxford Street, this place is super aesthetic (we’re talking marble tables and trees in the restaurant) and the food never disappoints. The miso aubergine is a long-time favourite and we’re always keen on their beautiful, fresh salads. But be warned, it’s pay by weight so having eyes bigger than your stomach can lead to a hefty dinner bill!
