Spotlight On: BCAA Powder
Looking to supplement and support your training but unsure of what to choose? Heard about BCAA's but need some more information on what they actually do? We're here to give you the full lowdown, from what BCAA's are, to why they're used and how you can benefit from them...
What are BCAA’s?
BCAAs are Branch Chain Amino Acids and are made from three essential amino acids: Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine. In short, amino acids are molecules that ‘fold’ to create protein, so adding them to your shake tops up the amino levels that are already present in your protein powder. The benefits include promoting muscle mass, recovery and assisting your immune system.
BCAAs are essential and you must get them from your diet, as your body doesn’t produce them naturally. The amino acids go straight to your muscles where they are processed. This is why it’s suggested that they increase muscle function and repair while helping with muscle soreness.
Because BCAAs are designed to improve exercise performance and reduce muscle breakdown, they’re best added to a shake or taken separately before exercise.
Here are Neat we are passionate about the provenance and quality of all our products, which is why our BCAA’s are: gluten free, soya free, GMO free, hormone free, lactose free, vegan and made in the UK.
Why Take BCAA’s?
BCAAs are good for athletes who are undertaking intense training, or those who are working out to a high level of intensity on a regular basis, but they aren’t required for everyone.
If you’re working out a couple of days a week or taking part in a class – you probably don’t need to supplement. If you’re training hard and you want a boost in performance, you may want to give them a go to give yourself an extra boost to help your muscles repair and recover quickly.
