Luckily, being on a budget doesn’t have to ruin all your having fun, as there are plenty of things to do without splashing your cash! Here’s some of our favourite activities to do in the city that don’t cost a penny, because as the saying goes, “when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life”…
Get cultured and embrace your inner art critic at The Tate Modern on London's Southbank. All the permanent collections are free, and include works from Warhol, Jackson Pollock and Picasso. Last year they opened a brand new 360 degree viewing platform, which is an incredible place to take in the view of the city.
If more epic views are what you’re after then head to the top of the hill in Greenwich Park to get a panoramic perspective on London, from the Thames all the way to Canary Wharf’s slick skyscrapers. East London Street Art
Searching for something a little more urban than the Tate Modern? Head East to explore the colourful alleyways that lead off Brick Lane and find some of the best street art around. There’s no need to pay for a tour guide - the best pieces are always the hidden gems you stumble upon accidentally.
Established for over 1,000 years, Borough Market is a great London experience and is always popular with the foodies! Wander under the Victorian railway arches from stall to stall, trying out all the free samples on offer - from artisan cheeses, to breads and sweet treats.
Natural History Museum
Visit the famous dinosaurs and become a history buff at The Natural History Museum. It’s huge collection of around 80 million items is sure to keep you entertained for hours – perfect for grey and rainy days!
Book a free slot at The Sky Garden and head up the Walkie Talkie building to hang out in this indoor nature lover’s nirvana. Overlooking the entire city, it’s the perfect place to sit, relax and watch the sun go down.
Portobello Road Market
Located in one of London’s most photogenic boroughs, Notting Hill, Portobello Road Market is a charming and exciting market where you can find everything from clothes, to street food, to an eclectic range of knick-knacks. It’s the perfect place for a lazy Saturday afternoon stroll.
